AS Web Design

Just set up? Get your website in place before your first customer looks for you.

I build first websites for new businesses. The first thing a new customer does after hearing your name is look you up. I build it first, finished and set up for Google: £350 for one page or £650 for the full website if you want it, and nothing if you don’t.

Real sites, live now. Open any of them.

The closest match is Luke Cross Plastering, a plasterer with no website at all. Now he has one page, for £350, live on his own domain, with photos of his own jobs and every one of his Google reviews on it.

Brilliant website and great support throughout. Archie built a new website for my fitness business and I'm really pleased with it. It's clean, looks professional and is easy to find your way around, which is exactly what I wanted.

I'm not techy at all, but Archie helped me through the whole process and explained everything I needed to do in plain English. Nothing was too much trouble. If you're a small business needing a website, I'd definitely recommend him.

I’ll build it first. You decide after.

Tell me the business name, what you offer and where. I send you three homepage designs within a day, then build the whole website in the one you pick, every page written, usually in about 2 days, and send you a link. Look at it in your own time, with whoever else has a say.

If you want it, it’s £650 for the website, or £350 if one page is enough to start, and the £350 counts in full towards the website within 12 months. A 25% deposit is due once you’re happy with the design, and the rest within 7 days of it going live. If you don’t want it, you pay nothing, and I won’t follow it up.

What is yours, and the small print

  • Your domain (your web address, like yourbusiness.co.uk) is bought in your name, on your card. About £10 a year, paid to the company you buy it from, not to me. I send you a one-page guide to buying it.
  • Every login is handed over in writing once it is paid for, and the hosting moves to an account in your name at no cost. Nothing is locked to me.
  • No monthly fee unless you choose monthly care: £29 a month for up to five changes, stop any time.
  • If you change your mind after saying yes, the 25% is kept for the work done. If I can’t get it live for a reason on my side, it comes back in full.
  • You pay by bank transfer to the account named on the invoice. My bank details will never change by message.

What new businesses need from a website.

  1. To be there when people look

In the first few months most of your work comes from people who have only just heard of you, and they search your name. A proper website tells them you are real, what you do and how to reach you. Finding nothing makes them wonder whether you are still trading, before you have really started.

  2. Your own domain and email

yourbusiness.co.uk and you@yourbusiness.co.uk look established from day one, and they belong to you. A Gmail or Hotmail address and a Facebook page can look like a side project, even when it is not.

  3. Set up for Google from the start

Your services, your town and the areas you cover, written so Google understands them, and linked to your Google Business Profile. New sites take a few weeks to settle into search results, so the sooner it is live, the sooner that starts.

  4. The legal details, done properly

A limited company’s website has to show its registered name, company number, where it is registered and its registered office address. A sole trader shows their name and a business address. They go in the footer, so you never have to think about it.

  5. Easy to change as you grow

Prices go up, services get added, the first van gets signwritten. Changes are £50 for up to five, or covered by monthly care, and every login is handed over to you once it is paid for.

  6. Not a monthly bill while you are starting out

No platform subscription, no hosting fee and no minimum term. You pay once for the build and around a tenner a year for the domain.

What usually goes wrong.

New businesses usually do one of two things.

They put the website off until things are busier and spend the first year sending people to a Facebook page. Or they start one themselves on a monthly plan, run out of evenings halfway through, and keep paying every month for something half finished.

Both are understandable, and both cost work in the early months, which is exactly when every enquiry counts.

Fair questions, answered plainly.

What new businesses ask before they get in touch, with straight answers.

Fair questions

When should a new business get a website?

Before your first customer looks for you. New sites take a few weeks to settle into search results, so the sooner it is live, the sooner that starts.

What legal details does a new business website need?

A limited company’s website shows its registered name, company number, where it is registered and its registered office address. A sole trader shows their name and a business address. I put them in the footer.

Is a one-page website enough to start with?

Often, yes. £350 gets you one page, live on your own domain, and it counts in full towards the full website if you upgrade within 12 months.

Is there a monthly fee?

No platform subscription, no hosting fee and no minimum term. You pay once for the build and about £10 a year for the domain, plus monthly care only if you want it.

How long does it take?

Three homepage designs within a day, then usually about 2 days to build. Then you look at it in your own time, before deciding anything. Once you say yes, it goes live within 3 working days of your last change, and within 14 days at most.

What’s the catch?

Here is everything it can cost you. If it’s a no, nothing. If it’s a yes, 25% to go ahead: it is kept if you change your mind before the site goes live, and refunded in full if I can’t get it live for a reason on my side. The rest is due within 7 days of it going live. Your domain is about £10 a year, paid by you. Changes after it goes live are £50 for up to five, unless you have the year of changes or monthly care, and you send them to me: there is no editor to log into. And nobody can promise you a place on Google, me included.
