My business had developed into two quite different areas — Property Media and Wedding Films — and I wanted to bring them together under my own personal brand without confusing either type of client.

Archie recently designed and built the new website for HERU Technologies, and I was extremely impressed by both the quality of the finished site and the way he approached what was a surprisingly complex brief.
One of the biggest challenges was language. HERU operates in an area where the distinction between an authorised material intentionally retained for a further purpose and something simply discarded can be important. We therefore had detailed legal and regulatory considerations behind the terminology used throughout the website. At the same time, we absolutely did not want the site to read like a legal or technical document.
Archie understood that challenge very quickly. He worked through the wording, structure and user journey so that a first-time visitor can understand what HERU is and what it does, while ensuring that the terminology remains disciplined and consistent throughout the site.
That balance between simplicity for the visitor and complexity behind the scenes was, for me, one of the strongest aspects of his work. He didn’t simply build what we asked for; he understood the problem we were trying to solve and designed the website around it.
The result is a website that represents HERU far better: clean, contemporary and easy to navigate, but with considerable thought behind what appears on the surface to be very simple communication. I would have no hesitation recommending Archie for a business looking for someone who can combine web development with genuine problem-solving.

Hi, I’m Archie, and I build websites for UK businesses, from plasterers, electricians, service businesses, accountants, real estate agents. We cover absolutely everything.
My background, I came from plumbing and heating. I went through my apprenticeship, and then I ran my own business for three years. So I understand exactly the pain of not being able to be found online through your website.
Now, the way I work is I actually do all the designing and building for you before you have to pay a penny. So you get in contact with me, and I design you three separate home pages. The difficult part is actually going to be you deciding which one that you would like to go ahead with. From there, I will then put that design into the full build.
We use search engine optimisation and AI optimisation to make sure you’re coming as far up that ranking as possible. Every website that I build you own outright. There are no strings attached, and there’ll be no monthly instalments.

01 You tell me what you do and where.
Your business name and town is enough to start, by message, the form or a ten-minute call. Photos or a logo help. If you have none, I work without them.
02 Three designs, then the whole thing.
Within a day I send you three homepage designs, made with your own logo, colours and photos. Pick one and I build the whole website in it: every page written, every photo placed, ready to go live. Not a template with your logo dropped on it. Usually about 2 days.
03 You get a link. Open it and have a look.
It has a password, so only you see it. Look at it in your own time and show whoever has a say. I send a short video of it, and ring once, at a time you pick. If we miss each other I message, twice at most. The preview stays up for two weeks, as it has your photos on, and the price does not change.
04 You decide. That is when anything is payable.
Yes: £162.50 to go ahead on the £650 website. I make the changes you ask for, and it goes live within 3 working days of your last one. The rest is due within 7 days of it going live on your own domain. No: you say so, and that is the end of it. No invoice.
05 You buy the domain, in your name.
Your domain is your web address, like yourbusiness.co.uk. Your name, your card, about £10 a year, paid to the company you buy it from. I never hold it. Once the website is paid for, the hosting moves to an account in your name, which costs you nothing.

- The domain is in your name from day one. Once it is paid for, the hosting, the files and every login are yours, in writing.
- If it’s a no
- Say so and that is the end of it. No invoice, and the preview comes down.
- If you change your mind
- After a yes, the 25% is kept for the work done. If I can’t get it live for a reason on my side, it comes back in full.
- How you pay
- Bank transfer to the account named on the invoice. My bank details will never change by message.

I’m Archie Spencer, and AS Web Design is my trading name. I work on my own, for businesses across Worcestershire, the West Midlands and the rest of the UK. No agency behind me and no account managers, so you are not paying for them.
Every site is a set of plain files: no Wix, no WordPress, nothing you will still be paying a subscription for in two years. The domain is yours from the start. Once the site is paid for, the hosting account and the files are yours too, and any other web person can take it over without asking me.
I started labouring at 14 and worked in the trades until I was 20, then ran a business of my own, so I have been on your side of the conversation. A website only matters if it brings you customers.

Fair questions
Why would you build it for nothing?
Because ringing a stranger and telling them I am good at this does not work. Showing them does. If you don’t want it, that is my time gone and nothing at all for you. I can afford that.
What’s the catch?
Here is everything it can cost you. If it’s a no, nothing. If it’s a yes, 25% to go ahead: it is kept if you change your mind before the site goes live, and refunded in full if I can’t get it live for a reason on my side. The rest is due within 7 days of it going live. Your domain is about £10 a year, paid by you. Changes after it goes live are £50 for up to five, unless you have the year of changes or monthly care, and you send them to me: there is no editor to log into. And nobody can promise you a place on Google, me included.
Do I have to write anything?
No. Every page is written for you, from what you tell me. If you have photos or a logo, send them. If you don’t, I work without them.
I’ve only got a Facebook page.
Keep it. It is where the people who already know you see your posts. The website is what a stranger finds when they search, and its buttons can go wherever you already reply: Paul Armstrong’s open Messenger. Facebook page or a website?
What if I say no?
Nothing. Say so and it comes down, and that is the end of it. If I don’t hear back, it comes down after two weeks, as it has your photos on. You owe nothing either way.
How long does it take?
Three homepage designs within a day of your first message. Pick one and the whole site is usually built in about 2 days. Once you say go ahead, it goes live within 3 working days of your last change, and within 14 days at most.
What does it cost?
£350 for one page, £650 for a website or £900 for the website with a year of changes, and nothing until you have seen it and said yes. On the £650 website that is £162.50 to go ahead and £487.50 within 7 days of it going live. Every figure is on the prices page.
How is it that cheap?
No office, no account manager, no meetings and no salesman taking a cut. No WordPress, no theme and no platform fees behind it, so there is nothing to pay for and nothing to keep patched.
Who owns it?
You do. You buy your domain, the yourbusiness.co.uk part, in your own name and on your own card: about £10 a year, paid to the company you buy it from, not to me. Once the website is paid for, the hosting moves to an account in your name, which costs nothing on this kind of site, and I hand over every login in writing. If you want someone else to look after it, nothing needs my permission.
I’ve already got a website.
Then you have something to compare it with. I rebuild it, send you the link, and you put them side by side. If you go ahead, it goes live on the domain you already have, and your email is not touched. You can check your current one first.
